Abstract

In scope of this study, coastline of Çandarlı and Aliağa shore was studied according to yearly distribution by using the method of Remote Sensing. In order to determine coastline change, the satellite imagery of Landsat MSS dated 31.05.1975, Landsat TM dated 11.05.1987 and Landsat ETM dated 07.06.2000 were used in the study. Only methods that are based on the analysis of data obtained with Remote Sensing methods were used. With supervised and unsupervised classification methods, land and sea areas were determined from Landsat satellite imagery dated 1975, 1987 and 2000. Change detection was used to determine the direction and amount of change. Using the obtained classified imagery, a convergence matrix was created between the years of 1975-1987 and 1987-2000. This way, the coastline changes were monitored in two periods, namely 1975-1987 and 1987-2000, by using Post-Classification Compasion Technique. Shortly, coastline was changed rapidly in research area. It is thought that this change is influenced by anthropogenic factors and socio-economical development of research area.
